Destiny Career Planners was officially registered as a company by Karen Smith-Hanney in 2001. The initial goal was to provide specialized career coaching for clients working towards a career in fire fighting or policing. We have continued to keep up to date with various fire service and law enforcement recruitments to provide key information to clients so they can improve their performance and increase their chances of getting a job offer.
Destiny Career Planners has become the leader in providing career coaching to clients from throughout BC, Alberta and points east.
About Karen Smith-Hanney
Karen, the principal owner of Destiny Career Planners, is a former human resource manager, police officer and municipal member of the RCMP and a graduate of the Erickson International Coaching Program. She has worked with hundreds of clients through her personal coaching sessions, as a Contract Instructor with the Justice Institute of BC, (Fire Academy), SMART Fire Academy and a Private Peace Officer Training Program. She has designed workshops to assist participants to create their own resumes, navigate the application processes and prepare for the interview. Karen is trained in behavioral interviewing, coaching and resume writing and continues to remain current with hiring trends through her networks and membership in several professional career strategy organizations.

Destiny Career Planners Team Associates
A successful business needs a team with unique skill sets to reach the goal of providing the best service to our clients. Our team is there to assist in various aspects of career planning, resume writing, interview coaching and research.
Ruby is our newest Professional Coach and Interview Strategist. She has a Professional Coach Certificate, Commerce Degree and more than 15 years experience in the corporate world, including training, mentoring teams and individuals and in all aspects of the recruitment process.
Jeri is one of our Certified and Professional Resume Writers.She has been an award-winning, professional writer for more than 25 years, about 15 of them as a journalist. She conducts exceptional interviews and knows the questions to ask to write the best representation of you in your resume.
Part time associate and researcher, Bryanna, is a graduate of British Columbia Institute of Technology, Sales and Public Relations Program, and a third year, English Major at University of BC. Bry is an excellent writer and researcher and helps clients identify and showcase their value to the employer through their resumes.
